EncinoMom Unboxed: Episode #5 Featuring Retractable Banner & Resort Wear
Resort wear is an essential vacation item for anyone who is interested in comfortable swimwear – from somewhere similar to Hermoza – they would like to have wear on their vacation. Today we are unboxing our new set (from Build A Sign) and our resort wear picks from Fresh Produce Clothing.
We are in love with this retractable banner and not just because it has our logo on it! It would be absolutely fabulous with your logo on it. Or what if you had a family portrait printed on it for a special birthday or anniversary? Ooo! I think I should order one printed with a fabulous Christmas Tree photo! What a perfect solution for celebrating the holidays, especially with a new baby, a puppy or kitty loose in the house. Would make a really fun, reusable decoration for a first apartment, too. We ordered this one with the upgraded base because of our intended usage, but you can order a custom banner like this with the standard base for around $80. Thank you BuildASign for reaching out to us!
As you can see in the video, it is super easy to set up the banner. The carrying case is well made, too and there’s even a spot for your business card on the outside. The only tip I have for you is to take your time when retracting the banner. If you let go, it will roll itself up with a vengeance and may not align properly. It’s sort of like a window shade inside of the base, so take a moment to gently guide the banner as it retracts and you will save unnecessary wear and tear on the banner’s edges.
These clothes, all from Fresh Produce, are our Editor’s picks for that cruise you’ve been planning or that trip to the islands while the rest of the world weathers the Winter! The Park Avenue Pedal Pushers in white are a wardrobe staple. You’ll find they are light weight, easy to pack, easy to wear and with a pair of patch pockets in the back and another pair of pockets in the front, these pants are indispensable.
There’s a drawstring at the waist, which is usually not my favorite because of the added bulk at the belly, but the combination of the light weight fabric and the slim cut allow for just enough room at the waist without creating a blouson effect when the drawstring is cinched up in a bow.
The pedal pushers pair perfectly with the Basic Coastline Tunic in Misty Blue. The tunic is lightweight with a crisp finish to keep you looking fresh and it’s long enough, with deep side slits, to serve as a cover up for your swimsuit at the beach or by the pool. Carry a straw bag with a cardigan, a bottle of champagne, napkins and glasses and you’re ready for a romantic evening under the stars, listening to live music or waves on the shore.
This tunic also works well with the Audrey Pant and Caroline Capri that we featured last season, adding more range to the outfits you’ll be able to wear and more places you’ll feel comfortable, like museums and cafés in town. I was seen wearing the pedal pushers and tunic and the Hollywood Bowl this season and was stopped and asked where my clothes came from by more than one style conscious patron!
The Sunday Button Up Shirt in Tango is whisper thin, but is just enough to handle a breeze when worn over a tank or tee shirt. The buttons are a pearly grey and are perfectly beachy against the peachy tone of the Tango colored top. Again, it works well with the Park Avenue Pedal Pusher, a slim pant, capris and even shorts. I really like the way it looks over a fitted tank or sleeveless wrap top in a sun drenched hue.
I chose this shirt for my interview with Reckless Creator and Executive Producer Dana Stevens. In the interview, you can see how effortlessly this shirt handled the pairing with slacks and a cropped denim jacket. The color was perfectly at home in Stevens’ Palisades great room. (Next time maybe someone will tell me that my collar was tucked into my jacket before we start rolling!)
One of the most essential pieces is the Pinstripe Vintage Slub Scoop Neck Tee Shirt in Navy. The fit is so comfortable, not too loose, not too clingy. The drape of the fabric skims your figure perfectly and even though you know you are never supposed to wear horizontal stripes unless you want to look wider than you are, this is the exception that proves the rule.
If this was the only tee shirt I owned I would be perfectly happy and always well dressed! It looks great, even a little nautical, when paired with the white pedal pushers, but also looks great with a casual skirt or jeans. It’s thin enough that it plays nicely as a layering piece and yet provides full coverage when standing on its own. Throw the Crochet Front Pullover in Navy in your bag to add over your shoulders at the slightest breeze and wear on top when the shade (or A/C) brings a little chill.
