Among the Olympians to watch at the 2012 games in London is Lashinda Demus. The mother of twins, Gold Medalist and two time Silver Medalist competing for the Gold in London this year, Lashinda is coached by her mom, Yolanda, a champion in her own right.
We met up with Lashinda at the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica, California for a boot camp on the sand. We talked about what it takes to become a champion, the importance of family, persistence and winning strategies for life. One of Lashinda’s proud sponsors, Chobani Greek Yogurt, laid out a refueling station for us, so we could eat like Olympians even though I’m pretty sure I consumed more fuel than I burned!
I may not have been training like a champion before I met Lashinda Demus, but this experience inspired me to undertake a search for my own waistline – last seen in the winter of 2000, somewhere in southern Japan. I hope you enjoy this interview and draw your own inspiration from the amazing discipline, dedication, talent and persistence embodied in this Olympian from California. We are so excited to watch this year’s summer Olympics and hope you will join us in supporting Lashinda as she flies over hurdles on the road to gold!
Special thanks to Chobani for the super delicious treats we sampled! We’ll be sharing our favorites with you here, so check back for more recipes, courtesy of the Chobani Kitchen.
Follow Lashinda’s progress as she goes for the gold!
