Albuquerque, New Mexico fills with the magical site of hot air balloons from around the world, ascending into the pure blue expanse over the rainbow. If life at home feels a little like Kansas before the storm, add this technicolor adventure to your calendar for next year! This “most photographed event in the world” takes flight annually on the first weekend in October. In 2015, the Balloon Fiesta runs for 9 days culminating on Sunday, October 11th.
More than 500 balloons are scheduled to take to the skies with 106 registered special shape balloons. Special shape balloons came on the scene in the 1880’s when one of the first shaped balloons followed the design of a perfume bottle, “Cherry Blossom” to advertise the company’s soaps and perfumes.
