EncinoMom Flips For Family Friendly Flops
by Lisa Keating
The gang here at EncinoMom has flipped for these eco chic flip flops from Planet Flops! We received the pair of Licorice (black) flip flops, pictured above, to consider for review. It’s our policy to say something nice or nothing at all, so here comes our rave review!
The first thing we noticed was their heft. They are substantially heavier than those flip flops destined for the land fill. Personally, I never gave much thought to the final destination of my family’s summer footwear. The reality is all of those petroleum based shoes end up in the land fill. Planet Flops are made from real Brazilian rubber, extracted (like maple syrup from maple trees) from the rubber trees of the Brazilian rain forest. So the flops are recyclable! You can send them back to Planet Flops for recycling and get 10% off the price of your next pair. Not only that, but the trees aren’t harmed by the process of extracting the rubber AND Planet Flops has a “buy one get one tree policy”: For every pair of Planet Flops sold a tree is planted in the Brazilian rain forest.
The second thing we noticed was how great these flops feel on your feet. The extra heft means more support for your joints when you walk and they’re cute, too. Planet Flops come in lots of great colors, so far our staff pics include Blackberry (black foot bed with white straps), Purple and Petal (lavender colored base with soft pink straps), Pesto, Chocolate and Chocolate Strawberry (Brown bottoms with soft pink tops). They have metallics (silver and gold) and wedges, too. They retail for $28 – $30, which is more than those flip flops headed for the land fill, but with their longer life, superior support, style and the peace of mind that comes with knowing you won’t be polluting the world with your old shoes, they are worth every penny. When you consider that you’re purchase is good for you and that you’re actually doing something good for the planet at the same time, Planet Flops are a no brainer. Planet Flops, recommended by EncinoMom and Mother Earth!
