We’re back in Long Beach, California for the motorcycle show to test drive the 2015 Can-Am Spyder F3. I caught up with Brian Manning from Can-Am who showed me the bells and whistles on this sporty new ride.

Not being a motorcycle rider, I had some initial trepidation about how my driving skills would translate to the Spyder. I proceeded cautiously onto the streets of Long Beach. Once I was comfortable with the shifting, I was able to relax and have fun. I really appreciated the feeling of stability that the bike gave me and there was clearly power to spare! EncinoMom test drives the new Can-Am Spyder F3

If you want to compare it to my ride last year, you can see the video here:  2014 Spyder RT Test Drive

A couple of things to keep in mind about last year’s ride:

Watch last year’s test drive, click on the picture. You can easily see the difference!

1. It’s the touring model, so the seating position, styling and ride all reflect the idea that you are looking for a long comfortable ride.

2. I never left the parking lot! Honestly, maneuvering a motorcycle, even one with the stability of 3 wheels, at low speeds under the supervision of expert riders is pretty close to the experience of a root canal without anesthesia. The open road test in last year’s video is a thinly disguised expert driving in my place.

This year’s sportier ride on the F3, finds me with the GoPro strapped to my helmet. I went for about 45 minutes and only drove the (maximum legal) speed limit, but I discovered I would love to have one of these at home! Something I never thought I’d hear me say! Have fun! Drive safely and enjoy the open road!

  1. wow it’s not a motorcycle, it’s like a bike looks much safer.

I would much rather be on this then a motorcycle- I wonder if they come in pink! lol

    • Sherry,

You never know. If it’s something you really, truly, deeply want, I can see one in your future!

  2. Having had a motorcycle license for a couple of years, but never going for my full license, I would love to get on one of your machines!!! I think that the shifting is the most difficult part of a motorcycle! I would prefer an automatic bike! LOL Do they make those??
  3. This is so neat. This looks like alot of fun. I have never seen these before. Thank you for sharing
