Visit the Best Oktoberfest in California!
Best Oktoberfest in California, come to play and stay all day!
If the thought of October sets you off on a quest for wieners and sauerkraut, come with us to the Phoenix Club in Anaheim, California where Anaheim Event Center General Manager, Mark Sarabyn, takes us on a tour of California’s best Oktoberfest. We learned to Polka and shoot air rifles and filled up on German delicacies winding up our visit with Rumtopf from the Bierstrube! Sundays are Family Days with a bounce haus and horse & pony rides for kids. Saturdays include free Polka lessons at 3 pm. Open Friday, Saturday & Sundays through the end of October with vendors, live entertainment, German bands, beer garden, shooting gallery, arts and crafts and kids area.
There is free parking and no admission fee if you get the jump on Oktoberfest and visit in September! The Phoenix Club welcomes all those who appreciate German culture, cuisine and customs, you don’t have to be German to join. The Phoenix Club began as a group of local German families who came together to spend time and celebrate their shared heritage. Eventually, they pooled their resources and bought a club house that has grown into the event center you see today. Available for festivals and weddings, there is a tented outdoor stage, a grand ballroom which hosts big bands and dance lessons on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 10:30 – $10 cover includes your dance lesson – an Air Rifle Range and a Bierstube which is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday.
Treat yourself to a trip through Germany, freeway close in Anaheim! The convivial hospitality and lively spirit here are contagious. There’s a new item on the menu in the Bierstube, by the way. It’s the Kalbsschnitzel mit Schinken und Schwizer Kase – sort of a German version of Chicken Cordon Bleu. It’s made with pork, Black Forrest Ham and Gruyere Cheese. Wickedly delicious. Also be sure to try the Oregon Berry Rumtopf, summer berries from Oregon and California macerated and served over ice cream, topped with whipped cream and mint leaves. At home my Rumtopf includes stone fruit and the flavor of rum is much more pronounced. This Rumtopf is suitable for sharing with the kids!
