Santa, Shrek, Kholé Kardashian, Lizzy K., EncinoMom and the Tallest Tree in the World!
We’re taking a sleigh ride into this Holiday Season with Shrek, Santa and everyone’s favorite Kardashian; Khloé! Plus Lisa Keating at the lighting of the TALLEST Live Cut Christmas Tree – IN THE WORLD! Can you guess where it is?
Khloé Kardashian was the first person to experience the 2000 square foot Shrek’s Sleigh Ride To Santa, at the Glendale Galleria. We were invited to join in the festivities along with adorable kindergarteners, stilt walking elves, dough sculptors and other merry makers. Lizzy K. got a moment with her favorite Kardashian (Khloé was super sweet as the two exchanged compliments) and Khloé told us the display was great and that she thought the kids would love it – which of course, they did!
The interactive display invites you inside to see Santa. If he’s not in his chair, you’ll get to design your own sleigh and ride with your family to see Santa in person. A gazillion lights, smiles, touch screen, projection, ride technology and loving imagination went into the making of this spectacular installation. It’s open now, so you can get those Christmas photos with Santa in time to share!
We were also on site for the over the top entertainment and celebration leading up to the lighting of the Tallest Live Cut Christmas Tree in the World! What? Yes! Right here in Southern California at the Citadel, they staged a concert for some 20,000 fans before Santa arrived to flip the switch lighting the night with the fully decorated live cut tree! It was a blast. The Citadel’s 40 foot wide red bow can easily be seen from the 5 freeway, but you’ll want to park and wander around this outdoor Outlet Mall to view the Christmas Tree. It will put you in the Holiday Spirit in a heartbeat.
Know what this is? This is what it takes to build an outdoor ice skating rink here in sunny SoCal. Outdoor ice rinks are popping up around town for your enjoyment. We stopped by the Woodland Hills Ice Skating Rink located in the parking lot of Macy’s at Topanga and Erwin streets to capture this shot. It’s like the reverse of a heated floor installation, in that the floor freezes! It’s basically the same idea, but with cold instead of heat.
These tubes cover the every square inch of skating surface below the ice. As the tubes accumulate ice crystals water is added to flood the floor and freeze. The process is repeated until the layers of ice become thick enough to be a smooth and beautiful skating surface! The rink is under new ownership this year and the orientation has changed, too. The long side of the rink is now along Topanga and there is a massive 3 sided tent structure along the Southern end, providing shade and a little shelter.
